AOPA - Aircraft Owners and Pilots
Association

AOPA

Frederick, MD 21701
www.aopa.org |
| |
|
|
Description |
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, a not-for-profit
organization dedicated to general aviation, was incorporated on May
15, 1939. From the start, AOPA has fought to keep general aviation
fun, safe, and affordable. Growth in the early years was slow, but
by mid-1995, membership in AOPA had reached about 335,000, just over
half of all pilots with current medical certificates.
With a current membership base of more than 415,000, or two thirds
of all pilots in the United States, AOPA is the largest, most
influential aviation association in the world. AOPA has achieved its
prominent position through effective advocacy, enlightened
leadership, technical competence, and hard work. Providing member
services that range from representation at the federal, state, and
local levels to legal services, advice, and other assistance, AOPA
has built a service organization that far exceeds any other in the
aviation community. |

CAP - Civil Air Patrol

Civil Air
Patrol National Headquarters

Maxwell AFB, AL 36112
www.gocivilairpatrol.com |
| |
|
|
Description |
The first Civil Air Patrol members of 1941 were a heroic breed, men
and women who served their country by sinking or chasing away German
submarines off America's East and Gulf coasts. As a result of their
bravery, patriotism and tenacity, CAP subchasers
effectively thwarted German U-boat attacks and, in the process,
saved countless lives.
Today, CAP handles 90 percent of inland search and rescue missions,
with approximately 75 lives saved each year. Our members are
generally the first on the scene transmitting satellite digital
images of the damage within seconds around the world and providing
disaster relief and emergency services following natural and manmade
disasters, including such phenomena as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina,
Texas and Oklahoma wildfires, tornadoes in the south and central
U.S., North Dakota flash flooding and the October 2006 earthquake in
Hawaii, as well as humanitarian missions along the U.S. and Mexican
border.
In addition, CAP members are dedicated to counterdrug
reconnaissance and to teaching a new generation about aerospace and
its impact on our future. And our cadet programs ensure our youth
receive some of the finest leadership training the nation has to
offer. |

began leading the way in promoting the joy and freedom of flight for
future generations.
For over 50 years, EAA and its members have embraced their role in
the stewardship of the American aviation legacy by supporting a
variety of programs and services designed to protect it and pass it
on to future generations.
EAA provides
aviation enthusiasts the right resources and community to help them
pursue their aviation dreams. EAA offers information, guidance, and
instruction to recreational aviation’s hands-on participants who
build and/or fly aircraft for fun. These programs, along with EAA’s
vast chapter network and AirVenture, a “family reunion” of aviation
enthusiasts, also foster a community of support and encouragement. |

Ninety-Nines - International Organization
of Women Pilots

Ninety-Nines, Inc.

Oklahoma City, OK 73159

|
| |
|
|
Description |
THE NINETY-NINES, INC., is an
international organization of licensed women pilots from 35
countries - we currently have over 5,500 members throughout the
world. We are a non-profit, charitable membership corporation
holding 501(c)(3) U.S. tax status. Our International
Headquarters is located in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma. Although there are other female pilot organizations in
various states and nations, virtually all women of achievement in
aviation have been or are members of The Ninety-Nines.
The organization came into being
November 2, 1929, at Curtiss Field, Valley Stream, Long Island, New
York. All 117 American female pilots had been
invited to assemble for mutual support and
the advancement of aviation. Louise Thaden was elected secretary and
worked tirelessly to keep the group together as we struggled to
organize and grow until 1931, when Amelia Earhart was elected as
first president and the group was named for the
99 charter members.
Today Ninety-Nines are professional pilots for airlines, industry
and government; we are pilots who teach and pilots who fly for
pleasure; we are pilots who are technicians and mechanics. But first
and foremost, we are women
who love to fly! |

an ecological air sport that offers simple and accessible flying to
people of all ages - especially our youth. By joining the SSA, you
are joining the ranks of men and women, young and old, who want to
stretch their wings across the sky, challenge themselves before
nature, and embrace the rising columns of air in hopes of going
higher and farther. We look to the past at the achievements our
members have written and rewritten in the record books with great

Description |
The USHPA is private,

The USHPA, as a

takes place at them. The sports of hang gliding and paragliding are
not controlled by the USHPA; anyone that wishes can fly. (The only
regulatory authority for flight in the United States is the Federal
Aviation Administration.) However, we encourage all those who wish
to fly, whether it be hang gliders, paragliders, or both, to join
the USHPA as members, because together, as an Association, we can

Description |
The USPPA is a
non-profit 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to preserve, promote and
enhance the sport of powered paragliding.
The United States Ultralight Association and
the United States Powered Paragliding Association have much in
common. They both have (as their respective mission statements
reflect) the task of supporting powered ultralight aviation through
promotion and representation. And, both organizations have been at
the forefront of powered ultralight training and safety issues. In
the light of these mutual commitments, USUA and USPPA have entered
into an agreement that will allow both organizations to achieve
their individual objectives, and provide additional benefits to
members of each organization. Since there is a growing need for
enhanced representation of ALL ultralight aviation interests
(especially in the light of recent developments), this alignment and
cooperative effort will provide the PPG pilot the advantage of the
resources of the oldest powered ultralight organization in the US,
and provide the USUA member the opportunity to participate in a
truly unique and exciting form of ultralighting.

successful in providing much needed benefits to its members such as
liability insurance, legal guidance in resolving airport access
issues and other matters, as well as offering additional money
saving member programs. USUA also conceived and developed the
industry standard for training and registering fixed wing, trike and
PPC pilots, instructors and ultralight vehicles. And, USUA has been
able to serve its members effectively by providing a full time
office and staff in support of these, and other member programs. |
