About NYAviator
NYAviator's Mission:
Hello and welcome to NYAviator! I’m Marty Snow, a private pilot, aircraft homebuilder, scale modeler and amateur aviation historian. I’m one of those guys that has been in love with airplanes and aviation since I was five years old. Since that time, I have had the pleasure to fly a number of single engine aircraft, solo a sailplane, and share the incredible thrill of mock aerial combat with the Sky Warriors. Throughout all of my various aviation experiences, I have always felt inspired by those first aviators, the pioneers: Wilbur and Orville Wright, Samuel Pierpont Langley and Glenn Hammond Curtiss.
I feel fortunate that I live in a state that has such a vast aviation heritage that it is recognized as the "Cradle of American Aviation". From the flight of the Curtiss 1908 "June Bug", the production of the JN4 "Jenny" trainers of WWI, creation of America's first indigenous design fighter aircraft, to defending the skies over Pearl Harbor, and the construction of a Lunar Excursion Module to land a man on the moon - New York aviation people, aircraft and companies have left an indelible mark on the annals of American aviation history.
Our Future Aviators
At the present time, 106 years after the Wright Brothers made their first flight at Kittyhawk, the number of licensed pilots in the U.S. is decreasing while the average age of the remaining pilots is steadily increasing. We need to inspire our young people to flight by sharing the adventure and passion that many of us know as sport aviation. Today's young people are America's future military and commercial pilots!
NYAviator will strive to be an aviation information "web-source" for all forms of aviation. As a web-site, NYAViator will be an information resource to aviators, aviation enthusiasts and historians. As a web-zine, NYAviator will present interesting periodic feature articles on aviation related events, activities, people, aircraft and history with a relevant link to the State of New York.
